Today I launched this site, hiphelp.org because after reading hundreds of blogs and other message boards, it was clear people were suffering and needed answers but didn’t know who to turn to. It seemed patients wanted to reach out and talk to someone else like them.
If you are going through this, you know it can be very isolating on top of the pain and frustration dealing with doctors who can’t help. However, just in the last few months since the recall is out in public view, both patients and doctors now know what is causing the pain and malfunctioning hip. But, to get your head around another surgery, what new device to put in, the legal/medical challenges in front of us – well, it’s just overwhelming. We need to have each other to talk to for emotional support.
Getting the National Joint Registry done and the FDA to hear our stories about why relaxing the 510(k) loophole is not a good idea, can help us fight for others too and when we do that, we’re lifted out of this isolation and feel like we can make a difference.
Here’s to us fighting on and getting back on our feet!
